Over the weekend, I was grocery shopping out of town.
I saw something that I’ve never actually seen before… It was a massive sign outside the store that said..
“Every cashier open from 9 – 6 on Saturday and Sunday.”
Basically, they were saying that no matter how busy they are – or aren’t – they will make sure that EVERY SINGLE cash desk is open.
Sure, it was nice when I went in to pick up just a couple of items and I was able to zip right out again because I went up to one of the cash desks where there was no line up.
Actually, there were no line ups at all…and this was at around 2 pm on a Saturday afternoon. A lot of the cashiers were standing around either reading a magazine or just looking bored – simply because there were not enough customers to keep them busy.
I think this idea is a little misguided. Sure, open all the cashes when it’s busy but otherwise, have people working on something else so they don’t look sooooooooo bored. Either that, or fix / address other complaints people have about their grocery shopping experience.
ok, here we go…. what’s YOUR biggest pet peeve when you grocery shop and what is it that you would LOVE to see addressed by grocery stores?
