Youth Haven is hosting Coldest Night of the Year in Barrie this Saturday.
Its a walk through the downtown to raise awareness and money for youth homelessness in Simcoe County.
Spokesman Ryan Patterson says one misconception is that being on the street is a choice.
He says most of the youth , in their shelter, don’t have families to go home to.
Youth Haven is the only emergency youth shelter in Simcoe County serving 700 youth a year.
On most nights the 20 bed shelter is full.
The goal is 75 thousand dollars.
The walk is coming up Saturday at Barrie City Hall at 5 p.m.
