Some sad news from the book world today.
Harper Lee died today at the age of 89.
If you’re not exactly sure who that is, she is the Pulitzer Prize-winning author of “To Kill A Mockingbird.”
I remember that we were always assigned books in high school… I still remember the titles of them…
“Surfacing” by Margaret Atwood.
“Stone Angel” by Margaret Laurence.
“Who Has Seen The Wind?” by W. O. Mitchell.
and….of course, one of the few ‘non-Canadian’ books was “To Kill A Mockingbird.”
Harper Lee’s book was pretty much the only one that I actually read – I never got past the first few pages of the others simply because I found them to be sooooo boring. Yet I was still able to write essays on them. Scary eh?

Do you remember any of the book titles you were told to read in high school?
