A Wasaga Beach mom’s tragedy has now made it possible for hundreds of kids to get free swimming lessons.
Melissa Haskett’s 7 year old son Zack drowned in the Nottawasaga River almost 4 years ago.
Since then she’s been making colourful plastic bracelets and selling them and turning the money over to the Wasaga Beach YMCA to pay for other kids’ swimming lessons.
She said making the bracelets became a bit of therapy for her.
They are sold in a couple of Wasaga Beach stores and she’s hoping other area stores might be willing to stock them.
They sell for $4.
The bracelets come with a picture of Zack.
Locally, the purchases have allowed almost 300 kids to get swimming lessons.
