The Collingwood Syrian Family Sponsorship group is waiting and waiting and waiting.
Co Chair Thomas Vincent says they can’t get any information about the two families they have raised money to re-locate and care for.
90 thousand dollars has been collected and everyone has the same question, “When?”.
Vincent says they have everything in place but can’t get any federal department to return phone calls.
Calling an exercise in frustration, Vincent believes there are thousands of other applications in “small town Canada” that haven’t been processed.
The federal government did meet its goal of bringing in 25 thousand Syrian refugees to the country but since then, Vincent says its been deathly silent.
He says the federal government has dropped the ball.
