Toronto’s police chief says a man said Allah instructed him to stab two members of Canada’s military at a Toronto recruitment centre.
Chief Mark Saunders says the 27-year-old suspect is facing several charges, including one count of attempted murder and one of aggravated assault.
He said the man, a native of Montreal who’s been in Toronto since 2011, walked passed a master corporal stationed at the door of the centre on Monday afternoon and then stabbed him when he tried to stop him.
He then stabbed another military member who tried to apprehend him.
Saunders said the man was unresponsive when questioned – adding that the man also said Allah had instructed him to come to the centre and kill people.
Ayanle Hassan Ali is facing charges in the attack.
