Barrie Police have fired a Special Constable for watching a female in her cell, on video, while in custody.
The woman was a female officer, in custody for alleged drunk driving.
The initial complaint came in January of last year against Ralph Hillyard who had been with the force for 16 years.
A Professional Standards investigation began.
In its findings, the judge suggested it was all about gossip mongering and called the behavior “shocking”.
The Barrie Police Service has implemented enhanced security and approval measures for all video recordings of persons in custody.
Special Constable Hillyard was terminated on March 31st.
