Remember hearing about that poll that was being done in England – the one where they were trying to come up with the name of a new polar research ship…and they asked the public to submit names and vote on them?
Well, the votes are in.
Coming in at number 3: The RRS Henry Worsley, named after the explorer who died trying to make the first unassisted solo crossing of the Antarctic.
Coming in at number 2: The RRS Poppy-Mai – named after a 16-month-old girl whose father “married” her in an attempt to give her the wedding of her dreams after it was revealed she had incurable cancer.
But the big winner – with more than three times the votes of the closest competitor, is RRS Boaty McBoatface.
Now, that vote is not binding – the final decision lies with the Minister of Science.
….but I kinda hope he goes with Boaty McBoatface. 🙂
