There’s a dog expert by the name of Stanley Coren and he says that hugging your dog is just not a good idea.
He says that dogs find it to be very uncomfortable and also, for them, it’s just not natural.
He warns that the stress dogs feel when hugged could cause them to squirm to get away or else bite the hugger.
His suggestion is that you leave the hugging to human family members and instead of hugging your dog, give them a pat, a kind word or maybe even a treat.
