Continued hot, dry, windy weather is expected to keep the wildfire in Fort McMurray, Alberta, a fluid and dangerous beast.
Crews received a small break Thursday when temperatures dropped, but the blaze continued to grow.
Officials say 22 water bombers are at work, with more on the way including four from Quebec.
But a spokesman with Alberta forestry says the fire won’t be conquered until the region gets some significant rainfall.
Meantime a massive evacuation will be attempted today from oil camps north of Fort McMurray. It will be led by a helicopter which will ensure the route through Fort Mac is safe, and could include up to 400 vehicles.
