If you haven’t filled out your census form you have until tonight to do so.
Today is the official census day to fill out the paper questionnaire.
Statistics Canada sets a specific date so that Canadians won’t delay filling out the form.
After today, the government will start sending gentle reminders through mail, or phone call.
Although the numbers are very low, if after several reminders there are people that refuse to fill out the forms, they will be subject to a fine of $500 or up to 3 months in jail.
The Census is meant to be act as an ‘overall view’ of Canada.
As of Monday Statistics Canada reports over 5 million census questionnaires have been filled and sent out.
