Yes, it’s adorable. Yes, it shows that he’s a great dad. But a friend posted this yesterday and raised a great point. WHY is a Dad a hero when he does something Moms do every day with little or no praise at all??
It got me thinking. I worked weekends for about 6 years so my husband did a lot with the kids during that time. Does that make him awesome? YES! Hero? No, it makes him involved in his own kids’ lives. He’s baked cakes, taken kids to gymnastics, cleaned up, dined out, did a lot with OUR KIDS. And yeah, I appreciate it but would I call him a hero because of it? Probably not.
But some people would…he actually had a lady come up to him at a restaurant and she gave him a gift card because he was doing so great taking the kids out to eat on his own. Has that ever happened to me? Nope. He even had a hairdresser ask if these kids were from his “first marriage”. Really???
Come on world, Dads are awesome, let’s give them a little more credit and be a little less shocked when they take an active role with their children.
