Police are reminding online buyers to be vigilant after a woman lost $3,000 in an online scam.
A Bradford woman was searching to buy a vehicle when she responded to an ad from Autotrader.
The woman was then told to complete the deal through Ebay.
After making deposits through a bitcoin machine and further requests for more cash, she complained to Ebay only for the online company to tell her that they don’t use bitcoin in their transactions and that she’d been scammed.
Always meet the potential seller face to face in a safe location, and make sure the deal is legitimate before giving out any payment.
