Police just outside of Saint John, New Brunswick are trying something new.
They’ve started giving citizens ‘positive tickets’ for when they obey the law properly.
If, for example, you don’t run an amber light, a police officer may pull you over and give you a positive ticket.
If you use a crosswalk instead of jaywalking, you might get a positive ticket.
The positive tickets include things like free meals at fast food restaurants.
Of course, with something like this, you get people who think it’s a great idea and then there’s others who think it’s a waste of money and police resources. I’ll admit, I think it’s a great idea – positive things in this world are never a bad thing.
Now, I think that the OPP do a program here now where they reward young people for doing good things in the community – but would you like to see Barrie Police or the OPP extend the “positive tickets” to adults?
