RVH is improving access to the building and adding parking.
Press Release from Royal Victoria Hospital:
September 7, 2016
rvh level 1 entrance opens along with
more patient parking
Once again, RVH has demonstrated its commitment to putting patients and families first by improving access to the building.
The former staff entrance at Level 1 will re-open for the public to use from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily starting on Wednesday, September 7 after the installation of new revolving doors. This is now called the Simcoe entrance and is particularly good news for recurring patients who use the Treatment Clinics on Level 1. Also beginning on September 7, patients and visitors will be able to park in the lower level (former Volunteer) parking lot. This parking lot has six designated spaces for Dialysis patient and ample barrier-free parking.
“There are quite a few outpatient clinics on Level 1 at RVH including dialysis, cardio-respiratory, rehabilitation, and the Children’s Treatment Clinic, so it just makes sense that those patients should be able to enter and exit the building at Level 1 as well as park close by,” says Nancy Savage, executive vice president, Patient and Family experience. “We have made this change as a direct result of patient and visitor feedback and it is another example of our commitment to not just meeting, but exceeding patient and families expectations.”
For those patients and visitors who are required to register on Level 2, they will be able to park in the Atrium (formerly Emergency) parking lot which also has barrier-free parking available and easy access in to the building.
The new doors will also provide RVH with energy savings as these revolving doors help keep out the cold west winds in the winter as well as reducing the amount of air conditioning required in the summer months.
