Some traffic slowdowns due to construction on Hwy 11 in Oro-Medonte were amplified on Friday morning after a collision between an OPP cruiser and another vehicle.
Barrie OPP officers arrived to the scene around 11:30 a.m. after receiving reports of the two-vehicle collision in the northbound lanes of Highway 11 between Line 4 and Line 5.
Police say traffic was slowing down at the time and the marked OPP cruiser was unable to stop and struck the SUV.
The driver of the cruiser, a civilian member of the OPP assigned to the Orillia Detachment, has been charged with careless driving.
Highway 11 between line 6 and 7 is down to a single lane each way for the 2nd year of culvert replacement. All traffic being is pushed over into the southbound lanes during the construction.
