The Corporation of the Township of Tiny released this press release yesterday:
“As a result of recent amendments to the Ontario Fire Code, in addition to smoke alarms being required in every residential dwelling unit, carbon monoxide (CO) alarms are now required in residential dwelling units that have fuel-burning appliances or attached garages.
In order to promote awareness of, and compliance with, these life safety requirements, the Township of Tiny Fire and Emergency Services Department is offering a Home Fire Safety Audit Service to its residents FREE of charge.
Participation in this FREE service provides amnesty to residents from our Zero Tolerance Smoke Alarm policy provided the residence is in full compliance with both the Smoke/CO regulations upon completion of the audit.
Enbridge has generously donated a number of combination Smoke/CO alarms. While quantities last, each home that requests a Home Fire Safety Audit will receive one free battery operated Smoke/CO alarm. If the home requires additional alarms, to be compliant with the recent amendments, we will provide them at Fire Department cost and install them free of charge.
Residents may contact us at 705-322-1161 to request a home audit. Our professional personnel will conduct a comprehensive safety audit and discuss how to reduce the risk of fire and carbon monoxide poisoning in your home.
If you wish to participate in this program, please call to set up an appointment and we will arrange a home visit as quickly as our resources will permit. We look forward to hearing from you!”
