Looks like that whole “Best Picture” mix-up wasn’t the only mistake that happened last night during the Oscars.
During the ‘In Memoriam’ tribute at the Oscars they accidentally put up a photo of a woman that is NOT dead alongside the name of a woman who is.
Janet Patterson was an Australian costume and production designer who passed away last year. But the Oscars put up a photo of Australian producer Jan Chapman who is definitely not dead.
Jan Chapman told Variety,
“I was devastated by the use of my image in place of my great friend and long-time collaborator Janet Patterson. I had urged her agency to check any photograph which might be used and understand that they were told that the Academy had it covered. Janet was a great beauty and four-time Oscar nominee and it is very disappointing that the error was not picked up.”
“I am alive and well and an active producer.”
According to Buzzfeed, there are photos of Janet Patterson that show up as Jan Chapman on a lot of photo directory websites so maybe that’s why people at the Oscars thought they were using the right photo. Or they’re predicting deaths now.
