With the milder temps, it’s probably not a great idea to be out on the ice.
The OPP, South Simcoe Police and Barrie Police are again reminding residents and visitors to the region that ice conditions on Lake Simcoe are not safe for use. Several ice huts in Innisfil have partially sank on Cook’s Bay and a small camper trailer begun to sink off the shore from Isabella Street on Saturday. It had fully sank to the bottom of the lake by Sunday. It will have to be removed by the owner in the spring.
If it is safe, police are recommending that people remove their huts now as the thaw will continue and the solidity of the ice is unpredictable.
The City of Barrie has more info on ice safety.
