The trial of an assault on a 98 year old Barrie woman has started. Jean Knox was terrorized on December 29, 2016 when a 16 and 17 year old broke in and ransacked her home.
The suspects poured maple syrup on the senior, and also smeared other foods on the walls and furniture.
Ms. Knox is confined to a wheelchair due to polio and is almost completely deaf.
The 16 year old pleaded guilty and showed remorse when he made his statement. He said his judgment was off that night and was going through a tough time battling drugs and alcohol. However he took full accountability of what happened.
The 17 year old’s trial is still to come.
