Thirteen year-old Kaitlyn Marie Soules will receive an award from the Fire Marshal on Thursday June 1 in Toronto.
Last June the teen was sleeping when she was a smoke alarm. She immediately woke up her father and her two brothers. She also convinced her dad that a fire extinguisher would
not work and got him to leave the burning house.
Kaitlyn remembered her fire safety knowledge what she learned at Alliston Union Public School when the fire department visited.
- “Her determination to ensure her family got out of the burning home safely likely prevented a tragedy.” – Ross Nichols, Chair of the Fire Marshal’s Public Fire Safety Council.
