CNN has parted ways with Kathy Griffin following the comedian’s apology for controversial photos featuring a decapitated head resembling US President Donald Trump.
Griffin was the co-host of CNN’s annual New Year’s Eve program with Anderson Cooper. Griffin had been a part of the broadcast since 2007.
The network released a statement saying: “CNN has terminated our agreement with Kathy Griffin to appear on our New Year’s Eve program,“.
Her co-host Anderson Cooper commented on the controversy:
For the record, I am appalled by the photo shoot Kathy Griffin took part in. It is clearly disgusting and completely inappropriate.

Griffin took to social media to ask for forgiveness on Tuesday evening.
President Trump responded to the photos on Twitter:
Kathy Griffin should be ashamed of herself. My children, especially my 11 year old son, Barron, are having a hard time with this. Sick!

Bathroom footstool company Squatty Potty, pulled a new ad campaign that starred Griffin and the Route 66 Casino Hotel in New Mexico announced that it has canceled a performance by Griffin at the resort that was scheduled for July.
