OPP have announced that frontline officers along with specialized units will start carrying a drug that fights opioid overdose deaths.
The main purpose of the kits is if an officer is exposed to potentially deadly opioids such as fentanyl.
Officers will be trained to use it on members of the public where there is a life-threatening situation and emergency medical services aren’t immediately available.
Fentanyl was present in 114 O-P-P seizures last year. Barrie Police officers already carry similar kits.
