A wood-processing plant on Main Street West in Shelburne has been destroyed after a fire that broke out Thursday evening around 5 pm.
Five fire departments were called in to tackle the flames that were reaching 20-feet. The fire was so big smoke could be seen from 5km away.
The plant has many building on-site, but it was the main building that was destroyed. Police said that tires and machinery exploded from the intense heat.
One firefighter and an employee were treated for minor injuries at the scene.
The fire was still active Friday morning after fire crews worked all night to out the flames out.
The Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office has been called and police are also investigating, though at this time there is no reason to believe the fire is suspicious.
