A school in Caledon is giving students the chance to negotiate their end of semester grade.
Mayfield Secondary School is bringing in the new pilot program. School principal James Kardash says a student will sit down with a teacher at the end of the school year, talk about their work, what they’ve learned and come to an agreement on what grade they deserve.
Experts that are for the program say that students tend to learn better when they aren’t focusing on grades.
Those against the idea suggest that such a responsibility should fall to the teachers and should not include the students.
What do you think of the project? Is this a good thing for students?
