The Executive Producer of ‘Kevin Can Wait’ promised that Erinn Hayes’ death on the show would be handled with a lot of respect and class. He said, “Out of respect for the character of Donna and certainly the way that Erinn Hayes portrayed her, it seemed like the only right and fair way to treat her character.”
That didn’t really happen and fans are not too happy.
At the beginning of last night’s season 2 premiere of Kevin Can Wait, fans found out that Donna died over a year ago after Kevin James’ character finds a postcard from her gym. (In reality she was fired from the show and replaced with Leah Remini) The card read, “We haven’t seen you, we miss you.” That’s when Kevin added, “you know what, so do I.”
The daughter on the show took the card from Kevin and said, “I will call them right now. It’s been over a year since she died, they shouldn’t still be sending this.”
And that’s when Kevin make a joke and says, “But don’t throw that out, on the bottom is a coupon for a kung-fu lesson. I wanna go there.”
The scene regarding her death lasted less than 30 seconds. Here’s what some fans had to say:
