Ontario’s colleges have called for striking faculty to vote on a final contract offer — after talks to end the four-week labour disruption broke down today.
OPSEU’s bargaining chair says an issue related to academic freedom remains unsettled. The province-wide strike has cancelled classes for 500,000 full and part time college students.
Georgian College says it’s disappointed that talks have not resulted in a settlement. They also announced that they will extend the fall semester to Dec. 22.
The council has called for OPSEU to suspend the strike in the 8 to 10 days it would take to organize the vote.
