With the long weekend starting in what feels like just a few hours, the OPP are sending out a reminder to be safe this weekend.
Typically on the first long weekend of the year, police all across Ontario see an increase in calls for service. They say they often receive calls about impaired driving, traffic complaints, marine calls or calls related to alcohol use.
To try and minimize this, the OPP will be on the roads, trails, and in the water focusing on impaired driving, distracted driving, speeding, seat belt and all other related infractions.
A Provincial May Long Weekend Traffic Initiative is in effect until Monday.
